How to shorten the wheelbase of a reg cab long bed Dodge 2500?

metal home decor

I had a project in mind of taking a Dodge Ram 2500 regular cab long bed diesel and shortening the wheelbase to fit a short bed. How hard would this be? Expensive? I don’t have much experience in metal fabrication but a friend of mine does. So what exactly would have to be done? I was thinking it would be more practical to just replace the long bed with a short bed after shortening wheelbase, instead of having to cut up the bed too. Has anyone ever done this? If you have any suggestions or any ideas on this matter please share. Thanks.

Short wheelbase rides rougher than a long wheelbase.

Expensive? – shorten frame, new brake lines, new or shortened drive shaft, new short bed, wiring will have to be shortened or pulled together and tied with wire ties, new parking brake cables, new exhaust system.

I wouldn’t do it myself, I’d just by a short bed truck or if you want a diesel find an extended cab with the short bed.

You may be able to use the shorter bed with the shorter driveshaft for the short bed trucks
